• Title: Chemical Lab Technician
• Position Type: 10 month contract assignment with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need
• Job Location: Madison Heights, MI
• Shift: 1st Shift

• Compensation: $28/HR

• Review and understand complex customer requests and projects; provide sound technical design and technology advice to customers, field sales representatives, and internal personnel.
• Travel 5–10% to customer sites in support of specific projects and applications.
• Manage multiple projects simultaneously and keep them moving on specified timelines.
• Build chemical baths, process panels, apply paint, and operate analytical equipment such as a scanning electron microscope.
• Conduct quality control checks on chemical baths, electro-coats, purge solvents, and metal pretreated panels.
• Move pails filled with chemicals up to approximately 55 lbs as needed.
• Expand knowledge of internal sales systems and collaborate with representatives to ensure projects are current and progressing.
• Prepare monthly reports on sales projects, activities, and issues.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratories, including equipment maintenance and calibration, proper chemical labeling and storage, and adequate levels of laboratory supplies and materials.
• Maintain neat and accurate technical records and reports related to project work, products, processes, and competitive information.
• Purchase laboratory equipment, project materials, and general lab supplies.

• BS in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related degree
• Prefer 5+ years of laboratory experience
• Surface treatment knowledge and experience preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to write accurate, comprehensive engineering reports
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think independently and work with minimal supervision
• Working knowledge of computer software for word processing, graphics, and spreadsheets
