Job Title: Product Development Technician
Location: Madison Heights, MI
Work Model: Onsite
Hours: M-F part-time, 15-20 hrs/wk, flexible schedule
Compensation: $25.00 - $27.00/hr
Type: 12‑month contract
Responsibilities- This is a laboratory-based position focused on mixing of laboratory size adhesive formulations and executing testing plans for the development of new and replacement products.
- Responsibilities include preparing tests according to customer specifications and internal test methods, completing timely testing to record and obtain data for assigned projects, and producing reliable, replicable data.
- Read and utilize dial calipers, micrometers, and standard shop measuring tools.
- Set up, calibrate, operate, monitor, and troubleshoot testing equipment.
- Apply basic laboratory techniques to perform routine and non-routine tests with limited supervision.
- Mixing of laboratory size adhesive formulations using different mixing equipment with limited supervision.
- Collect and analyze data.
- Enter accurate data into lab management system, computer databases, and test reports.
- Understand and perform mathematical and statistical functions.
- Prepare data reports, graphs, and charts as requested.
- Demonstrate creativity with new ideas, suggest efficiency improvements, and make recommendations to enhance procedures.
- Follow proper material storage, handling, and disposal procedures for hazardous waste materials.
- Follow SHE and 5S guidelines.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree, with at least two years of college chemistry or related science courses.
- Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable.
- Proficient in routine mathematics, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Experience with basic tool manipulation, including mixing equipment, lab glassware, testing machines, and standard lab tools.
- Skilled in manipulating and graphing data and reporting experimental work.
- Experience working in a team environment and managing multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Position requires 15–20 hours per week and offers a flexible schedule.
