Description Position SummaryThe Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring products and processes meet customer, regulatory, and company quality requirements. This position will review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to verify that products are manufactured in accordance with design requirements. The Quality Engineer will support inspection activities, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Review and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Verify product dimensions, materials, tolerances, and performance requirements against engineering specifications.
- Develop and implement inspection plans, quality procedures, and acceptance criteria.
- Conduct first article inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final product evaluations.
- Work closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to ensure design requirements are properly understood and executed.
- Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Analyze quality data and metrics to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
- Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with applicable quality standards and customer requirements.
- Review non-conforming materials and recommend disposition actions.
- Create and maintain quality documentation, including inspection reports, control plans, PFMEAs, and work instructions.
- Participate in new product introductions and design reviews to ensure manufacturability and quality requirements are met.
- Coordinate with suppliers regarding quality concerns and corrective actions when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable industry standards.
This position operates in a combination of office and manufacturing settings and requires regular interaction with engineering, production, suppliers, and customers to ensure product quality and compliance with design requirements.
Position Requirements Qualifications Education- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated experience verifying product conformance to design requirements and specifications.
- Experience performing dimensional inspections and working with inspection equipment.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting GD&T and engineering prints.
- Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
- Knowledge of inspection methods, measurement techniques, and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience with root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and corrective action methodologies.
- Proficiency with quality documentation and reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification preferred.
- Experience with in aerospace, defense, automotive, or precision manufacturing environments preferred.
- Experience with First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements and PPAP processes is a plus.
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use inspection and measurement equipment as required.
