Job Goals: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible members of society.

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in the area of instructional responsibility.
• Alabama State Department of Education teaching certification in the area of instructional responsibility.
• Experience coaching in high school varsity or college football.
• Alternative qualifications deemed appropriate by the Board.

• Knowledge of state curriculum content standards and district educational goals.
• Knowledge of student academic progress toward stated objectives of instruction.
• Knowledge of school's program of studies.
• Skilled in oral and written communication.
• Ability to develop and implement lesson plans based on district and state courses of study.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, colleagues and community members.
• Ability to use and manage technology.
• Knowledge of school system rules and policies.
• For a physical education teacher, sufficient athletic skills to demonstrate appropriate techniques.
• Ability to work outdoors and adapt to conditions.
• Physical and emotional ability to perform required work.
• Knowledge of Board policies and procedures.

• Assesses student abilities as related to educational goals.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials.
• Plans class activities and lessons that are age-appropriate.
• Establishes standards of student behavior.
• Identifies student needs and cooperates with staff.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education.
• Demonstrates positive parent/community relations skills.
• Ensures confidentiality of student records.
• Participates in school-level planning, faculty meetings, and committees.

• This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011.
• Under the Act, no credit toward tenure is earned in the initial school year if hire occurs after September 30.
• Expected Employment: 187 days (full year)
• Salary Range: Based on employment for complete year
