Job Goals: To serve as an instructional and administrative leader of the school, to work with staff, students and community to ensure a high quality educational program, and to formulate and accomplish the school mission.
Qualifications- Valid Alabama teacher’s certificate.
- Master’s degree, administrative certification from an accredited college/university and three (3) years of successful teaching experience.
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
FLSA Status: Exempt

Required:
Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks may not be more than ten (10) years old. A new background check is required for anyone new to Madison City Schools, regardless of the recency of the ABI and FBI background checks.

- Assists the principal in the personnel function.
- Assists the principal in securing, maintaining and managing material resources.
- Assists in improving student attendance.
- Assists with scheduling and assigning students for instruction.
- Assists with extracurricular activities as the level assigned.
- Assists with the supervision of classroom instruction.
- Assists with the distribution and accounting of textbooks and instructional supplies.
- Assists with curriculum development and other related matters.
- Prepares such reports as assigned.
- Assists with inspection of the physical plant and grounds and reports maintenance/custodial needs.
- Assists with procedures related to health and safety of staff and students.
- Assumes overall responsibility for the school in the absence of the principal.
- Is on call when necessary to provide proper building security and building maintenance, and to handle emergency situations.
- Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Students First Act of 2011: This position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Madison City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by transfer of a qualified applicant who is already employed by Madison City Schools. Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial school year of employment if the date of hire occurs after September 30.
Expected Employment: 240 days (full year)
Evaluation: According to established Board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.
Salary: According to Madison City Schools Salary Schedule (Salary based on employment for complete year)
