Job Description

Job Goal
:
To positively impact student math achievement within the elementary schools through participating in continuous school improvement efforts and by partnering with teachers to provide instructional coaching/modeling, training and support aligned with the curriculum and based on the standards.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S Degree in Education
  • Valid Alabama State Department of Education Teaching Certificate
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Background Check Required
: (Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Background checks must not be more than 10 years old. A new background check is required for anyone new to Madison City Schools, regardless of the recency of the ABI and FBI background checks.

Essential Functions
  • Be a learner and stay abreast of current research
  • Partner with and/or coach new and experienced teachers to deepen knowledge in instructional strategies/best practices related to mathematics
  • Partner with teachers to develop student learning maps and units of study based on standards
  • Work with teachers in the development of daily and weekly, as well as unit, lesson plans while incorporating best practices for ensuring student learning and growth
  • Work collaboratively with school's leadership teams to design, implement and assess school change initiatives to ensure alignment and focus on intended student results
  • Partner with teachers to expand their use of a variety of resources to improve instruction including best practices and instructional technology
  • Ensure that student achievement data (formative and summative) drives instructional decisions at the classroom and school level
