Summary/Objective
The role of the Conveyance Manager is expected to support the material flow throughout the entire plant. The Conveyance Manager uses a combination of analytical thinking, problem solving skills, flow analysis tools and industry experience to evaluate material delivery to the line side in a JIT sequencing process. Design practical routes that support 30-minute frequency delivery. Ensure these solutions are prepared for proper execution and final installation that results in zero downtime for lack of material.
Furthermore, this role would also lead the shipping and receiving departments.
- Ensures safety of self and others by following all Safety Policies/Procedures and wearing all required PPE.
- Support production to evaluate customer needs by reviewing their current processes and material flow.
- Conduct surveys to gather hard data. Areas of focus may include process time studies, physical space measurements, equipment identification and documentation, etc.
- Utilize industry experience to design material handling and delivery systems, specifying equipment and generating space design layouts.
- Evaluate automated solutions and partner with automation vendors to provide priced solutions to meet system specifications.
- Generate and support A3 and Kaizen activity for improvements within the Conveyance department.
- Lead Project Management for cart and tugger design.
- Work closely with automation vendors to verify solutions that meet specification requirements to meet cost savings objectives.
- Create and design material flow that supports mixed loading design.
- Acquire quotations and place corresponding purchase orders for conveyance equipment.
- Ensure systems meet all applicable company and engineering standards, policies, or details.
- Provide training & development opportunities for members of the Conveyance team as required to sharpen the team’s performance skills presently and in the future.
- Prepares department budgets and monitors department performance to budget
- Regular attendance is required.
Must be flexible to work in all areas and in your department regardless of duties listed above in order to accomplish YKTA Goals and objectives.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications , Education, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or 4 years of equivalent work experience or training.
- Proficient computer and software skills.
- 3 plus years supervisory experience in a production environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Working knowledge of plant logistics and inventory control/ flow processes is preferred
- Work is conducted in an industrial office/ plant setting.
- Frequent movement throughout an industrial plant environment being exposed to high noise levels and equipment normally used in stamping / welding/ E-coat environments.
- Able to lift up to 33lbs.
- Prolonged periods of standing on the plant floor
- Ability to safely operate PIT equipment.
- Able to traverse the plant facility.
