Purpose of the Position
Under general supervision, this position ensures that headcount planning and calculation needs are implemented within MBUSI safety, quality, timing, and cost targets. The position supports a controlled, standardized approach for overall resource implementation and plant-wide communication.
Essential Functions- Plan shop headcount requirements for Body and Paint.
- Lead and implement headcount forecast for Operational Planning (MBBP), Pre-calculation (VK) and future strategy decisions by preparing all required reporting within MBUSI and towards Germany.
- Standardize headcount planning in accordance with standards set in other plants within MBC and ensure correct reporting in the Work Force Planning software.
- Plan project and ramp-up headcount (ePK) aligned with Body/Paint Project Leaders as well as necessary partners in Germany.
- Lead and support manpower meetings/report-outs across all levels of the organization.
- Drive Continuous Improvement through close collaboration within Series Planning as well as with other Engineering and Production groups.
- Develop and coordinate Production Flow management topics within Body Shop such as throughput time and throughput simulations.
- Determine shop operating models to most effectively utilize headcount and shop run time aligned with the other shops and production control team.
- Develop and implement reporting of key performance indicators for the assigned areas on a monthly basis and provide information for required departmental reports and scorecards.
- Support Production on the shop floor to verify headcount needs and monitor requirement vs. actuals across the shops.
- Perform safe work practices and participate in trainings and safety programs in a positive and proactive way by following safety rules, procedures, regulations, standards and laws. Report all unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and injuries to supervisor or Human Resources. Work safely 100% of the time.
- Perform other duties as required.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain/Operations Management, Other Engineering or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
ExperienceCo‑Op/internship and/or up to 2 years’ professional experience in the following area(s):
Engineering function within a manufacturing setting with strong emphasis on manpower planning, Continuous Improvement, and project management.
- Experience in headcount or process planning.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment.
- Proven capability to develop and support strategic directions for the organization.
- Ability to communicate efficiently, written and verbally, in English.
- Application knowledge: MS Office Suite, TEAMS.
- Work experience with Mercedes‑Benz in product development and in a pre‑production environment.
- Proficient in German language able to communicate technical/business information.
- Experience in Simulation software (such as Siemens Technomatix) and manufacturing reporting systems (such as MRS).
- Project Management Certification such as PMP or PMI‑ACP.
