Digital Engineer V

Job Description

The Digital Hardware Engineer V serves as a technical leader responsible for the architecture, design, integration, and verification of advanced high-reliability digital hardware for aerospace and defense applications. This role provides technical leadership across multiple programs, establishes engineering best practices, mentors engineering teams, and serves as a recognized subject matter expert for complex digital hardware systems.

Lead digital hardware development from concept, architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, verification, qualification, production release, and sustaining engineering.

Act as the technical design authority for complex product development projects.

Identify and resolve complex hardware issues during development and post-production.

Work with software teams, firmware teams, manufacturing teams, and other engineers to integrate hardware and software solutions.

Create detailed documentation for designs, testing procedures, and other relevant information.

Optimize designs for performance, reliability, and cost.

Mentor engineers across multiple experience levels.

Lead Design Reviews

Education & Experience:

Electrical (Bachelor's degree) or Computer Engineering (Bachelor's degree)

Minimum ten (10) years of experience in a specialized functional discipline. OR (14) years of experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree. OR (7) years of experience may be considered w/ a Masters Degree. OR (5) years of experience may be considered w/ a PhD.

Experience designing and testing digital electronic systems

Preferred Qualifications:

Design experience with ARM or Intel based microprocessors.

Design with AMD And/Or Lattice FPGA's

Proficiency in schematic capture with Siemens DXDesigner or Altium Designer

Expertise with the design, constraint and integration of high-speed interfaces. (e.g., PCIe Gen 3/4, 10 GbE, 40 GbE, 100 GbE, DDR4).

In-depth Knowledge of Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis.

High current/low voltage switching power supply experience

Experience collaborating with embedded software and firmware engineers to ensure seamless product verification and successful integration of hardware with FPGA and software functionality.

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Experience with Hyperlynx SI/PI

Experience in Rad hard or high reliability design
