Materials Manager

How you will make an Impact

As the Material Manager for the new campus facility housing Marley and Ingenia Technologies, you will oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials. Your role ensures efficient inventory management and strong supplier relationships to support production for the cooling portion of the organization. The position is tactical, involving inventory management, procurement, supplier relations, and logistics coordination. You will also train operations staff, sign purchase orders, and track the flow of inventory through the company’s supply chain, reporting directly to the Cooling Plant Manager.

Inventory Management – Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure materials are available when needed while avoiding excess stock that could lead to waste. Approximate value of inventory under management is $30 M.

Procurement – Procure materials, supplies, and equipment necessary for production, develop and implement procurement strategies to acquire materials at optimal costs while maintaining quality standards, negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms, and plan inventory levels to keep materials available. Approximate value of annual purchase is $100 M. Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, addressing any issues that arise and ensuring timely delivery.

Logistics Coordination – Oversee the logistics of incoming and outgoing materials, aligning with production schedules and operational needs. Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of materials in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Support both onsite businesses by managing the shipping and receiving staff.

Compliance – Ensure all material management activities comply with industry standards and regulations, including environmental laws.

Team Management – Lead and develop the material management team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation.

Preferred experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Excellent organizational abilities
• Proficiency in inventory management systems
• Experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor, to drive performance
• Experience in greenfield or brownfield startup environments
• Travel will be required at times

Education &

Certifications:

A bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
