Overview
The Prototyping Manufacturing and Integration Division (PMID) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc, has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Material Handler on-site at our Huntsville and/or Madison, AL facilities. A Material Handler supports the manufacturing floor by supplying and/or holding various materials for machinists, welders, and fabricators. This role requires operating machinery such as forklift, pallet jacks and various hand tools used in production.
Under direct supervision, the Material Handler will support the manufacturing of mechanical prototype devices or products and transport, properly identify, and route material/inventory to the proper stations.
This position will require at minimum the ability to obtain & maintain a SECRET clearance from the US Department of War.
Responsibilities- Provide material support on the manufacturing floor to machinists, welders, and fabricators by supplying and/or holding various materials.
- Operate or assist forklift drivers in transporting materials.
- Familiarity with technical manuals, blueprints, schematics, and/or sketches.
- Function as an integral part of a team.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools with strong working knowledge.
- Be familiar with mechanical systems and safe work practices.
- Assist with cleaning up sites, disposing of waste, and helping with other needs; clean shops and yard to maintain appearance and safety.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods, sit, stand, stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, climb, hold and move items with hand, dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, push/pull, and lift 50 lbs independently (more with assistance).
- Be physically capable of wearing all required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection, and hand protection as required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a minimum of a SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense.
- Be a U.S. Citizen.
- Active/current SECRET Clearance from the US Department of War.
