– Role Overview
The Prototyping Manufacturing and Integration Division (PMID) of Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. () invites a full‑time Textile Tech 1 to work on site at our Huntsville, AL location. The Textile Tech 1 is responsible for operating industrial sewing machinery and/or fabric welding equipment, building and assembling products based on technical specifications, blueprints, and work orders, and ensuring quality products for customers.
The role requires close collaboration with production supervisors, engineers, designers, pattern makers, and quality control personnel to maintain a seamless production flow and timely delivery.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense
- 2-3 years of experience operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting fabric welding equipment and/or sewing machines
- Experience reading blueprints, schematics, sketches, and interpreting technical specifications and work orders
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to inspect product quality during production and make repairs to textiles
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Ability to follow directions, record production data, report issues, and escalations as needed
- Adherence to safety procedures, cleanliness, and organized work environment
- Continuous improvement mindset in fabric welding and sewing techniques
- Physical capability to sit, stand, reach, bend, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs individually and with assistance
- Wearing all required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, respirator, safety shoes, hearing protection, and hand protection
- Active/current SECRET clearance from the US Department of Defense
