Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) – RN

Valley View Health and Rehabilitation is seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing and provide clinical leadership throughout the facility.

The ADON plays an important role in maintaining high standards of nursing practice, regulatory compliance, resident safety, staff performance, and quality outcomes.

The Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing with the management and daily operations of the nursing department. Working closely with the Director of Nursing, nursing leadership, facility staff, residents, families, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team, the ADON helps ensure that nursing services are delivered in accordance with professional standards, facility policies, and applicable federal and state regulations.

The successful candidate will be a visible and supportive clinical leader who can organize nursing services, communicate effectively, identify opportunities for improvement, and help create an environment centered on accountability, teamwork, and exceptional resident care.

Key Leadership

Responsibilities include:

• Assist the Director of Nursing with the management and oversight of the nursing department
• Support the implementation of facility policies, nursing procedures, and regional standards
• Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing nursing services
• Monitor nursing documentation completed by physicians and nursing personnel for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
• Make daily rounds throughout the facility to direct the work of employees and observe resident care, safety concerns, hazards, and operational issues
• Ensure nursing services are delivered consistently with resident needs, care plans, and established standards
• Follow up daily on each nursing unit to ensure changes in resident condition are reported, documented, and addressed appropriately
• Assist with Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives
• Participate in corrective action planning and follow-up activities related to clinical, operational, or regulatory concerns
• Complete chart audits under the direction of the Director of Nursing and report findings, progress, and recommendations for improvement
• Monitor clinical documentation, resident status changes, physician orders, and nursing practices
• Ensure proper infection prevention and control techniques are consistently followed
• Promote resident safety, dignity, comfort, and quality of care
• Maintain effective communication with residents, families, nursing staff, facility leadership, and other departments
• Provide guidance, support, and direction to licensed nurses, CNAs, and other nursing personnel
• Assist with staff education, orientation, coaching, performance monitoring, and development
• Collaborate with the Director of Nursing and interdisciplinary team to identify and address resident care needs
• Help foster a professional nursing culture centered on teamwork, accountability, compassion, and continuous improvement

Qualifications include:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing required
• Minimum of three years of nursing experience required
• At least one year of supervisory or nursing leadership experience required
• Experience in long-term care or working with the geriatric population preferred
• Knowledge of nursing standards, clinical documentation, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements
• Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read reports, review documentation, and accurately utilize clinical and operational data
• Demonstrated ability to organize and plan nursing programs and services
• Ability to manage, guide, and support nursing personnel effectively
• Ability to plan and direct nursing services while coordinating with other departments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and follow-through
