Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Occupational Health & Safety

Ensuring Chart’s Success… The Safety Coordinator will aide Chart's Theodore, Alabama facility in ensuring the health and safety of all team members, contractors, and visitors to the site. This is a "hands on" position which will spend the majority of the time on the shop floor engaging with employees and working to build a strong safety culture.
What Will You Do?- Champion the sites general safety policy and procedures
- Engage with shop staffto help identify and remove obstacles that could potentially lead to unsafe work practices
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local legislation and codes governing environmental health and safety
- May helpgatherdata for a variety of reports, such as regulatory,such as storm water pollution prevention program and permitting, toxic release inventory (TIR), etc
- Identify safety risks using knowledge of manufacturing equipment and processes
- Participate in audits, inspections and incident investigations, as needed
- Conduct new hire safety orientation and host new hire certification training
- Other duties as assigned by management
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Work in an office and industrial manufacturing environment with possible exposure to temperature extremes, overhead objects, material with rough edges odors associated with cutting and welding
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Medium to loud noise level in the work environment
Your Experience Should Be...- Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental, health, and safety (EHS), industrial safety, manufacturing, construction, energy, or related operations environments
- Experience conducting workplace safety inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
- Experience in developing and delivering employee safety training
- Experience with OSHA compliance programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Fall Protection, Powered Industrial Trucks, Hot Work, and Confined Space Entry
- Experience managing hazardous waste programs and ensuring compliance with RCRA regulations
- Experience supporting DOT hazardous materials shipping, receiving, packaging, marking, labeling, and documentation requirements
- Experience maintaining safety records, reports, corrective actions, and regulatory documentation
- Experience participating in root cause analysis and corrective action development
- Ability to work independently and interact effectively with employees, supervisors, and regulatory agencies
