Summary/ Objective:
Design, implement, train, and lead safety, security, health and environmental programs to accomplish company’s safety mission, goals, and objectives. Provide leadership and technical support to EHS department. Create and administer workplace safety, security, health and environmental strategies.
Essential Functions (but are not limited to):- Ensures safety of self and others by following all Safety Policies/Procedures and wearing all required PPE.
- Lead workplace safety culture strategies and actions.
- Develop and drive activities with focus on key business metrics such as injury avoidance, regulatory compliance and countermeasures.
- Establish and lead strong team member involvement activities in safety and wellness.
- Identifies company safety training needs and develops and coordinates safety training programs.
- Develop EHS related polices and lead consistent administration of company policies and procedures.
- Work with minimal supervision to resolve complex organization issues.
- Develop communication systems with department managers for day-to-day EHS activities.
- Work with manufacturing leaders and Process Engineering to resolve safety issues in all areas.
- Monitors lost-time injuries/ illnesses and worker’s compensation claims.
- Reviews injury/illness and noninjury investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
- Supports plant personnel in selection of appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Regular attendance is required.
Must be flexible to work in all areas and in your department regardless of duties listed above in order to accomplish YKTA Goals and objectives.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications , Education, and
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety or related field or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years professional experience in EHS.
- 3+ years management experience.
- Manufacturing experience, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Strong ability to develop your team and create an environment of continuous learning.
- Strong understanding of US environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and public speaking.
- Strong problem-solving skill with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Experience in a team-based environment.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities, issues, projects with successful delivery.
- Strong project management skill.
- Excellent judgement and decision making in complex situations.
- Able to create and modify documents in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
- Ability to travel 10% domestically and internationally.
Experience:
- CSP Certification
- Ecoat, Metal Stamping or Welding experience
- Japanese/ American company experience
- Work is conducted in an industrial office/ plant setting.
- Frequent movement throughout an industrial plant environment being exposed to high noise levels and equipment normally used in stamping / welding/ Ecoat environments.
- Frequent use of stairs, ladders, bending, lifting, reaching, squatting to perform equipment or facility inspection.
- Able to lift up to 33 lbs.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a computer are possible.
- Extended period of standing on the plant floor.
- Able to traverse the plant facility.
