Job Description

This Position is contingent upon contract award, security processing, a CI polygraph, and position availability. The PSS provides support for security assessment investigations, including background investigations, periodic reinvestigations, and security clearances.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform research and analysis into complex problems and processes.
  • Serve as an expert on project teams and provide critical thinking and analysis for written documentation and oral presentations.
  • Review and analyze requests for investigations concerning security clearances, reciprocity, requirements, violations, and assessments.
  • Examine and analyze FBI investigative files to identify identifying information, questionable elements, and potential security risks.
  • Conduct security briefings and remedial actions based on investigative findings.
  • Assist in preliminary and final reviews of personal history statements and related data before initiating background investigations.
  • Conduct background investigations (BIs) for positions requiring suitability for employment or access to classified information.
  • Prepare reports on investigations, draft summary sheets, and recommend questions for follow‑on investigations.
  • Make recommendations for adjudication of personal background investigations for employment with the FBI and/or issuance of a security clearance.
  • Review personnel security questionnaires (SF‑86, SF‑85P), verify information, contact subjects, input data from MAC applications, retrieve data from credit bureaus, and request local agency checks.
  • Prioritize assignments and create schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Use advanced interview skills to gather detailed background information.
  • Conduct peer reviews as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret U.S. Government Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Bachelor’s degree with seven (7) years of experience or Associate’s degree with nine (9) years of experience in personnel security investigative or analyst fields.
  • Experience interpreting governmental and commercial database checks to identify areas of concern.
  • Experience analyzing investigative reports and other sources to identify security vulnerabilities and develop investigative leads.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Internet research, and federal LE and IC IT systems for record checks.
  • Experience with commercial and federal government database systems; performing database searches related to personnel security matters.
  • Knowledge of applicable database search systems and security clearance documentation workflows.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in conducting investigations consistent with federal standards and adjudicative criteria.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of DOJ and FBI regulations regarding the personnel security process.
  • Experience conducting interviews, security briefings, and preparing written analyses and recommendations.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal record check systems, indices, and file review processes.
  • Understanding of federal investigative standards (FIS), Security Executive Agent Directives (SEADs), Executive Orders, U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, and other security guidelines.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Position performed in a traditional office environment. Occasional standing, walking, sitting, typing, and handling of tools. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth, and focus adjustments.

Compensation

$70,000 – $80,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
