Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Madison, AL.

- Hourly Pay: $27.00 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year)
- Schedule:
Monday–Saturday Off, Sunday plus one additional day of your choice - Hours:
First Shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm - Annual Merit Pay Increases Every Year

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Vocational or technical certification, post‑secondary degree, or technical certifications preferred.
- Basic tools, required.
- Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance such as oil changes, brake and tire work.
- Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A, preferred.
- This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. To become a Ryder employee you must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire, pass a Ryder drug test, pass a DOT physical, pass a Ryder road test, and pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years.

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification, motor‑vehicle records check, and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to whom you are assigned.
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties.
- Perform standard vehicle maintenance.
- Perform standard component inspections and repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
- Diagnose standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilising diagnostic computers when applicable.
- Identify the root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required.
- Replace defective components as instructed.
- Perform facility maintenance duties.
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaint once assigned a task.
- Utilise key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available.
- Work in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT).
- Perform other support duties as required to support operations, which could include but are not limited to Service Island support.
