About The Role

Utili Quest is a leading provider of underground utility damage prevention for over three decades, and we are hiring experienced Utility Line Locators. If you have at least 12 months of verifiable direct locating experience, we invite you to join our team and help connect America.

• Use a lap‑top computer or other devices to receive, document and close out excavation notices, both during normal hours and after hours.
• Read and interpret utility maps/prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
• Use assigned communication equipment to effectively communicate with excavators, utility reps, and company personnel regarding underground facilities.
• Operate electronic detection equipment to locate and mark underground facilities within prescribed accuracy limits.
• Perform light excavation with a shovel to expose buried utilities when necessary.
• Provide accurate documentation and sketches related to all locates completed.
• Respond to excavation notices in accordance with established time requirements.
• Operate company vehicles safely and maintain a professional appearance.
• Perform manhole entry using assigned equipment and safety devices.
• Work in all weather conditions, during normal and after hours.
• Use hands and fingers to operate specialized equipment and tools.
• Reach overhead above shoulders and horizontally; bend at the waist; stand or walk for extended periods.
• Carry 3–5 lb electronic locating equipment for extended periods; lift objects up to 50 lb or more with tool aids.
• Communicate effectively by hearing and speaking.
• Follow all safety rules at all times.
• Work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends, as ticket/production load requires.
• Respond to emergency calls during scheduled on‑call shift rotation.

• At least 18 years old.
• 12 months or greater of verifiable direct locating experience.
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience (preferred).
• Valid State driver’s license (cannot be provisional) with an acceptable MVR record.
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screen and background check; will be subject to random drug testing in compliance with federal, state, and company guidelines.
• Proficiency with hand tools and equipment (shovels, screwdrivers, wrenches, pedal keys, etc.).
• Carry 3–5 lb electronic locating equipment for extended periods; lift objects up to 50 lb or more with tool aids.

The wage range for Utility Locator is $21.00 – $28.00 per hour.
