Position Summary
The Teacher/Counselor plays a key role in Grove School's integrated educational and therapeutic model. This position combines classroom instruction with active participation in the residential life program, ensuring consistent support for students across academic and living environments. Teacher/Counselors design engaging lessons aligned with Grove School's curriculum, provide behavioral guidance, and model professional standards of conduct for students.
Responsibilities
Academic Responsibilities
* Maintain a current Connecticut teaching certification.
* Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Grove School curriculum and student IEPs.
* Create a structured, engaging classroom environment conducive to learning.

Residential Responsibilities
* Participate in the supervision of residential dorms during assigned shifts.
* Promote positive behavior, accountability, and life skills in residential settings.
* Maintain safety, hygiene, and organization in dormitory environments.
Activity and Community Responsibilities
* Participate in and help plan on-campus and off-campus recreational and educational activities.
* Supervise students during community events, athletics, and weekend activities.
* Ensure safety and positive engagement during student travel and outings.
* Serve as a mentor and counselor, providing supportive guidance to students within the therapeutic milieu.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required;
Connecticut teaching certification preferred.
* Experience working with adolescents, preferably in therapeutic or residential settings.
* Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to collaborate across academic, clinical, and residential departments.
* Commitment to Grove School's values and mission of holistic education.
