The Town of Madison is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Finance. This position is located in the Finance Department of the Town. Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with six (6) years of progressively responsible accounting/supervisory experience. Experience in municipal accounting highly desirable. Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Public Finance Officer highly desirable. Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to successfully complete a complex background investigation.
Position Purpose:
To administer and oversee the financial operations of the Town and Public Schools, ensuring accuracy, compliance and efficiency. Works directly with all Town staff and manages the general ledger. Supervise certain accounting functions within the Finance Department. Prepare research, analysis, and reporting to support the Director of Finance, Boards, Auditors, Pension Committee and other third parties that may need financial assistance.
Responsible for maintaining cash flow projections and investment recommendations. Assists with budget preparation, manages the General Ledger Controls, manages fixed asset schedule, reviews all bank reconciliations, prepares audit information and works directly with the Auditors. In addition, prepares year end financial information in according to GAAP and GASB. Ability to apply knowledge of GAAP as well as GASB Pronouncements. Performs other related functions as assigned or required.
