We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CAD Designer with deep expertise in plastic injection‑molded components, advanced surfacing, and complex automotive lighting design. This role focuses on full 3D development of automotive headlamps using Siemens NX, with additional value placed on candidates who can work in or interface with Catia - bonus with some Creo.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the 3D design of complete automotive headlamp systems and sub‑components using Siemens NX
, from concept through production release. - Create robust, manufacturable designs with strong emphasis on plastic injection‑mold tooling
, Class‑A surfacing, and complex geometric transitions. - Translate styling/industrial design data into engineering‑ready surfaces and detailed component models.
- Build and manage high‑quality parametric CAD models, assemblies, and drawings that meet internal standards and automotive lighting requirements.
- Conduct assembly checks including interference analysis, clearances, GD&T application, and tolerance stackups.
- Collaborate closely with styling, optical, electrical, manufacturing, tooling, and quality teams to ensure feasibility and manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
- Participate in design reviews and proactively identify risks, proposing solutions to reduce cost, weight, and complexity.
- Prepare detailed 2D drawings with full GD&T, material specs, and manufacturing notes.
- Utilize CATIA for select customer interfaces, data exchange, or legacy program support.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field (equivalent experience accepted).
- 10+ years of CAD design experience in the automotive industry
, with a strong background in exterior lighting preferred. - Expert proficiency in Siemens NX for advanced surfacing, assemblies, and plastic part design.
- Strong hands‑on understanding of plastic injection mold design
, tooling considerations, and complex parting lines. - Experience with CATIA. Working knowledge of Creo and NX also very helpful.
- Deep understanding of DFM/DFA, automotive lighting requirements, and regulatory considerations.
