Responsible for performing assigned duties to optimize the effectiveness of the supply chain function. Responsibilities include planning, inventory control, kanban implementation/utilization, lead‑time reduction, engineering change notice/new product launch material planning, total cost reduction activities, and some procurement activity. Under a minimum of supervision, release/order materials and product to established supply base ensuring satisfactory quality and delivery to meet Company objectives and customer requirements.
EssentialJob Functions
- Assures optimum inventory/kanban levels and on‑time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing carrying costs and transportation charges.
- Materials planning for release and/or ordering of materials and supplies to achieve on‑time deliveries at the optimum inventory investment; investigates and solves problems resulting from material shortages.
- Follows materials practices, contracts, assessments, and policies to ensure honest, fair, and ethical relationships with suppliers.
- Implements policies/procedures/processes that ensure accurate processing of inventory and production transactions, including responsibility for the kanban process for material delivery.
- Manages assigned commodities for inventory/data integrity, cycle counts, obsolete/excess inventory, returned material, engineering change notice/new product launch material planning, and supplier performance evaluation.
- Prepares and issues all necessary reports and/or correspondence.
- Fully supports NPD stage gate process under the direction of the Commodity Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains the highest ethical and work standards, promoting these attributes in co‑workers and others.
- Communicates clearly, orally and in writing, using good grammar; presents concise, well‑organized reports and provides complete information openly and honestly.
- Works with other employees willingly, supporting cooperation and teamwork; demonstrates commitment to the entire business and initiatives to grow Vehicle Service Group’s business.
- Accepts responsibility and accountability for both strategic planning and successful implementation of all projects/programs/duties outlined in this job description; advises supervisor of concerns, problems, and progress in a timely manner.
Moderate telephone and personal contact as well as some written communication with suppliers in placing or expediting releases and performing essential job functions. Extensively internal personal contact with purchasing personnel and moderate contact with design and manufacturing engineers, quality engineers, operation manager, shop floor personnel, and receiving/shipping personnel.
Job SpecificationsEducation
:
High school graduate with minimum 2 years of college and ability to read blueprints. College degree preferred. Basic understanding of machine capabilities and shop processes beneficial.
Experience
:
Minimum of 2 years experience in materials and/or purchasing or industrial and/or related field experience.
Supervision
:
Works under limited supervision. Handles routine matters on own initiative.
Responsibility
:
Exercises moderate degree of judgment. Questions and direction setting are referred to supervisor.
