Process Technician

The Process Technician is responsible for the setup, monitoring, and optimization of plastic injection molding equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality production. This role requires technical skills needed in injection molding, strong attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving to maintain efficiency, quality, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Set up, start up, and verify injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and process control systems.
Conduct first-shot inspections and confirm readiness for full production.
Inspect molded components for cosmetic and dimensional defects (e.g., flow lines, sink marks, short shots) and ensure product consistency.
Troubleshoot and resolve molding and equipment-related process problems to minimize downtime.
Communicate process, quality, and production updates to operators, quality assurance, and supervisors.
Set up and operate secondary or downstream equipment as needed.
Perform routine preventive maintenance on molding machines, molds, and support systems.
Identify sources of scrap and waste; contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all company and OSHA safety standards.
Adhere to all Quality, Environmental, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.

Required Skills:

Strong understanding of injection molding machine operation, tooling, and process parameters.
Proficient in identifying and troubleshooting molding defects.
Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
Ability to read setup sheets, process documentation, and production work orders.
Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
Capable of working independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (heat, noise, standing for long periods)
