Tenure‑Track Professorship in Silviculture and Climate Change Adaptation, Faculty of Environment and Natural Resources, Institute of Forest Sciences. Full‑time, start date earliest possible. Salary: W1 pay scale with allowances. Final date to receive applications: 31 Aug 2026.

The professorship represents the field of Silviculture and Climate Change Adaptation in research and teaching. The scientific core focus is the investigation and further development of silvicultural strategies aimed at adapting and sustainably developing forest ecosystems under conditions of climate change. An emphasis is placed on viewing forests as complex systems in which silvicultural measures, ecological processes, and societal demands interact.

Research activities include the development of close‑to‑nature and climate‑resilient management approaches, the evaluation of silvicultural adaptation measures or the study of forest regeneration under changing climatic conditions. In cooperation with neighbouring disciplines, additional areas of focus can be maintained, such as analysing how different tree species and forest structures respond to climatic stress factors.

A strong commitment to teaching in forestry and environmental science programmes is required.

• Demonstrated scientific expertise in the field of silviculture, evidenced by relevant international publications.
• Sound research experience on adaptation strategies of forest ecosystems to climate change, resilience, adaptation mechanisms or silvicultural measures.
• An independent, internationally competitive research profile with clear potential for further development.

• Experience in university teaching and in supervising theses.
• Experience in acquiring third‑party funding.
• Participation in national and/or international collaborative projects.
• Documented interdisciplinary collaboration.
