Dimensional Inspection Engineer (CMM / FARO / Poly Works)
STS Technical Services is hiring a Dimensional Inspection Engineer in Louisville, Mississippi. This is a contract opportunity for a metrology professional who knows how to measure with precision, interpret complex data, and hold parts to the standards they were designed for.
If you have hands‑on experience with CMM systems, FARO arms or laser trackers, and Poly Works, and you are comfortable working in a fast‑paced production environment, this role is built for you.
Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Dimensional Inspection Engineer or Metrology Specialist with strong hands‑on expertise in CMM, FARO arms or laser trackers, and Poly Works software. This role focuses on precision measurement, inspection execution, and data analysis to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Perform dimensional inspections using CMM equipment, FARO arms, and laser tracking systems
- Develop and execute inspection plans for complex components and assemblies
- Use Poly Works (Inspector and Modeler) for data collection, alignment, and analysis
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models to validate part conformance
- Generate detailed inspection reports for internal teams and customers
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for dimensional nonconformance
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve issues
- Assist with first article inspections and production validation activities
- Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of metrology equipment
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to measurement and inspection processes
- 5 or more years of experience in dimensional inspection or metrology
- Strong hands‑on experience with CMM systems (Zeiss, Mitutoyo, Hexagon, or similar)
- Experience using FARO arms or laser tracker systems
- Proficiency with Poly Works software suite
- Strong understanding of GD&T in accordance with ASME Y14.5
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD models
- Experience generating inspection reports and working with quality documentation
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or heavy manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with first article inspection standards such as AS9102
- Experience with additional metrology software such as PC‑DMIS or Calypso
- Knowledge of quality standards including ISO 9001 or AS9100
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field
- Contract position with duration to be determined
- On‑site role in Louisville, Mississippi
- Overtime may be required based on project demands
- Fast‑paced production or program‑driven environment
- Accurate and repeatable inspection results with minimal rework
- Timely completion of inspection reports and deliverables
- Strong collaboration with engineering and production teams
- Ability to quickly adapt to new parts, programs, and measurement requirements
