Responsibilities
The incumbent in this position is responsible for safeguarding the university’s properties against burglary, vandalism, trespassing and other hazardous criminal or unauthorized activities; the work includes patrolling the university’s properties; issuing traffic and parking citations; securing buildings; conducting traffic and other accident investigations; administering first-aid and emergency medical treatment; answering calls regarding fires, bomb threats or any other emergency situations; this work involves an element of danger and officers must be able to act effectively without constant direct supervision and exercise independent discretion when responding to incidents;
work may be performed in a patrol vehicle, on foot patrol, bicycle, or other means of transportation, or any combination of the above as needed.
- Must have at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have state certification by the Mississippi Law Enforcement Academy.
- Must have at least one year of experience in Law Enforcement.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Maturity, dependability, good work habits, and consistent work attendance are essential.
- Must demonstrate proficiency in human relations skills.
- Must have knowledge of computer or related skills.
