Job Description:
Next Gear Capital, a Cox Automotive company, is hiring a Portfolio Manager. The Portfolio Manager manages and grows a portfolio of dealer clients across the Jackson, MS territory with lines of credit ranging from $50,000 to $2.5M within an assigned geographic territory.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of dealer clients across the Jackson, MS territory with lines of credit ranging from $50,000 to $2,500,000; act as floor plan subject matter expert to the portfolio.
- Achieve company goals and performance targets by regularly engaging with clients in person or virtually, collaborating with internal partners to drive revenue and maximize profitability through prudent account management, controlled growth, and risk mitigation.
- Educate clients on desired performance behaviors, self-service options, and best practices; coach them to ensure compliance with company policies and expectations.
- Collect and analyze client financial information and internal reports/dashboards to assess dealer performance and address issues with the dealer to drive growth and manage risk.
- Utilize historical data and tools to identify growth opportunities and determine clients in financial distress.
- Collaborate with Risk and Recovery to mitigate pre-default risk and pursue post-default collection efforts within a defined timeframe; minimize loss and maximize recovery.
- Conduct physical inspection of inventory, ensure accuracy of audits and repossession as necessary.
- Ensure quality control, inventory accuracy, self-reconciliation, inventory additions, and buying behaviors.
- Serve as fiduciary for the company by identifying and reporting material client or internal non-compliance, fraud, or other issues requiring reporting to protect the company.
- Maintain integrity and strive for the best outcomes for both clients and the company.
- Document all prudent conversations, activities, and client interactions in Salesforce as required by KPIs; complete Salesforce campaigns as required.
- Onboard new clients to ensure a positive and successful client experience.
- Cultivate Cox Automotive cross-functional business unit relationships and opportunities.
- Knowledge of the automotive industry and the finance industry.
- Proficiency in reading and analyzing financials (profit & loss, balance sheet, tax returns, bank statements preferred).
- Strong financial acumen and working knowledge of key financial tools and terminology.
- Ability to identify risk indicators through data tools; communicate proactive performance plans at individual and client levels.
- Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients and internal/external partners at various levels.
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong negotiation and collection skills; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a remote environment; maintain a high level of safety awareness.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Salesforce.
- BA/BS with 4+ years of related experience in finance, client facing, customer service, B2B, account management, and/or collections.
- MS degree with 2+ years or 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree; automotive and/or floorplan industry background preferred; financial knowledge and acumen preferred.
- Visit clients at least 60% of the time with occasional overnight travel.
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods; valid driver’s license required.
