About the AgencyThe Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has a position available within the Division of Interpretation Unit, located at the State Office. The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) is committed to protecting and nurturing Mississippi's at-risk children and families. MDCPS offers a variety of positions statewide, including social work positions providing case management services and working with potential foster families, supervisor positions providing clinical and administrative support, and agency support positions such as policy development, human resources, information technology, program management, training, and budgeting/finance.

* This is a non-state service, time-limited position.
* To provide support to county and resource staff by offering timely and accurate interpretation/translation services for staff and Limited English Proficiency (LEP) clients who are involved with MDCPS.Assist with communications whenever there may be language barriers in the delivery of services.
Assist with interpreting at court hearings, family team meetings, treatment team meetings and any other interpretation assistance needed.
Provide clear and exact translation of written materials and interpretation of verbal communication.
Assist children and families with Limited English Proficient (LEP)
Completion of daily activity logs and other documentation
Attend staff meetings and training.
Being on-call to assist with interpretation after hours.
Other duties as assigned.
Excellent translation (written) and interpretation (verbal/communication) skills. Ability to convert written materials into a second language. Great Interpersonal skills
Preferred QualificationsTypically requires a High School Diploma or high school equivalency, applicable interpreter certification, and 2+ years of experience. Must be Mississippi Quality Assurance Level III or higher. Fluency in English and second language (Spanish preferred)
** MUST HAVE INTERPRETER CERTIFICATION AND MS QUALITY ASSURANCE LEVEL III MINIMUM.**
