As part of our ongoing growth and expansion, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Electronics Technician Maintenance III (ETM III) (Lab) to assist Lynker in supporting the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), providing quality meteorological and oceanographic observations in the marine environment to support predictions of changes in ocean and coastal weather and enhance maritime safety. NDBC designs, engineers, fabricates, integrates, tests, deploys, maintains, and repairs four worldwide buoy systems including Weather Buoy Stations, Coastal Observation (C‑MAN) stations, Tropical Atmosphere‑Ocean Array (TAO) systems, and Deep‑Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART) stations.
The program also performs data analysis, storage, and dissemination of related weather and environmental data from these systems (25%) and other sources (75%) of in‑situ weather data, logistics, information technology / data administration, and programming.
- Electronic component level assembly, bench testing, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic line replaceable units and processing systems.
- Perform duties in an electronics laboratory environment using bench‑type electronic testing equipment.
- Conduct testing and troubleshooting down to the component level for environmental monitoring sensors, data collection, and processing systems.
- Use oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, ammeters, pulse/function generators, resistance thermometers, and waveform generators.
- Produce quality work following prescribed procedures, drawings, and schematics.
- Execute tasks independently with limited supervision, ensuring conformance with established policies, procedures, and deadlines.
- At least 6 years of experience in maintenance, repair, test, and modification of marine electrical and electronics systems, including analog, digital, and RF circuitry.
- Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain, and calibrate microprocessor‑based data acquisition systems, test sets, sensors, laboratory bench equipment, and precision calibration electro‑mechanical instruments.
- Ability to work independently with no direct supervision.
- Experience as a team leader.
- Knowledge and skill of surface‑mount device repairs and IC replacement.
- Training and experience in ESD awareness and precautions, and proficiency in reading electronic schematics.
