Duties
  • You will develop expertise through job assignments with progressive levels of responsibility.
  • You will work under gradually decreasing supervisory controls until such as incumbent is fully qualified to assume the full range of duties and responsibilities as described in target position.
  • You will assist with product creation, quality assurance and quality control, customer service, and operational software utilization, and troubleshooting across varying levels of difficulty and complexity.
  • You will aid in creating, reviewing, and revising command standard operating procedures, training aids, qualification processes, and documentation.
  • You will coordinate with a wide range of production centers, watch floors, commanders, warfighters, and the scientific community under supervision.
Requirements

  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • May be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, up to 40 pounds.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • May be required to involve operating or driving government vehicles.
  • The environment may require long (12-hour) shifts, including overnight and weekends.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
  • Initial single scope background investigation and be favorably adjudicated to meet Navy SCI personnel and security criteria derived from Director, Central Intelligence Directive 6/4 (DCID 6/4).
  • Periodic Updates of the SSBI will be initiated at four- and one- half year intervals to determine the eligibility of the incumbent to continue to be granted access to SCI material and data.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
Qualifications GS-07

Your Resume Must Also Demonstrate At Least one Year of specialized Experience at Or Equivalent To The GS-05 Grade Level Or Pay Band In The Federal Service Or Equivalent Experience In The Private Or Public Sector. Specialized Experience Must Demonstrate The Following:

  • Experience assisting in applying principles of meteorology, oceanography, or physics to assigned tasks.
  • Experience performing with software (e.g., Excel, introductory MATLAB) to organize and visualize scientific data.
  • Experience aiding senior analysts in validating environmental model output by comparing it to observations and expected oceanographic and/or meteorological conditions.
  • Experience conveying technical findings verbally or in writing.
GS-05

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
