Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Construct, Build and Maintain OH/UG Electric Facilities with primary voltages ranging up to 34.5KV including but not limited to:
  • Installation, removal and maintenance of OH/UG primary line facilities and secondary services.
  • Installation of OH/UG transformers and the wiring of all types of transformer banks.
  • Installation, including the wiring of regulators, capacitors, and reclosers.
  • Driving of different sizes and types of trucks.
  • Operation of various pieces of equipment, including Aerial Bucket and Digger Derrick Trucks.
  • Read and understand job prints and sketches.
  • Recognize materials and their function.
  • Setting and climbing of all sizes of poles in open areas, rear alleys and energized lines.
  • Be available for on‑call duty and emergency response.

Minimum Qualifications
  • 5 years of lineman experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Required to have or be able to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Use physical strength to perform required tasks in all weather conditions.
  • Work irregular hours and out of town assignments as required.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Take and understand directives and complete tasks with limited supervision.
  • Plan and lay out all work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Assume a lead role and direct the work of other linemen.
  • Work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.
  • Learn through classroom instruction, OJT and repetitive motions.
  • Climb and work off poles of various heights.
  • Recognize hazards and mitigate them.
  • Maintain and care for company equipment and safeguard assets.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service in a pleasant and tactful manner.
  • Recognize opportunities for process improvement.
  • Accept a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.
Essential Functions Of The Linemen Position
  • Traverse uneven terrain with a full complement of tools weighing up to fifty pounds.
  • Work in extreme heat and cold.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Work alone when performing restoration services.
  • Perform physical tasks, including digging, pulling, pushing, carrying and lifting up to 80 pounds.
  • Maintain a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Safely operate trucks and heavy equipment around energized lines and equipment.
  • Work at heights for extended periods.
  • Operate overhead from a bucket truck, performing work above shoulders on energized overhead lines.
  • Climb up and descend from wooden or steel structures, poles and ladders and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, grip, handle and feel.
  • Perform emergency rescue operations, including bringing unconscious or injured co‑workers down from significant height or elevated area.
  • Have sound judgment necessary to work safely in a dangerous environment.
  • Understand and follow safety rules.
  • Work up to sixteen continuous hours per day.
  • Wear required personal protection equipment.
  • Perform basic computer tasks such as entering time worked, noting task start and completion, checking and responding to emails, completing computer‑based training and other similar tasks.
  • Communicate effectively and interact with a team.
  • Manage stress and handle tense situations.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Work overtime when necessary.
