Job DescriptionThe Lead Lineman will perform the construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution voltage of 7.62 and 14.4 kV lines.
- This position will require pole climbing, hot sticking, pole setting, and changing of pole equipment.
- Lead Lineman will also be responsible to string and sag wire; handle oil-filled equipment; pull, lay, and terminate underground cable; install pad-mounted equipment; work on poles, in bucket trucks, in heights and proximity to high voltages, in trenches, in vaults; and operate and work around heavy equipment.
- This position should be performed by promoting safe work practices at all times.
- This position works with other departments and assists other employees as directed within the scope of their qualifications.
- The ideal candidate should possess the ability to manage change effectively and communicate professionally with employees, members, and the public.
- Additionally, this position will be required to collaborate with other Twin County employees to foster and maintain positive working relationships.
- Promoting safe work practices, ensuring the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and staying updated on safety protocols.
- Assists the Crew Forman or Line Superintendent in detailed job planning and work toward the efficient completion of the projects.
- Frames and sets poles, inspects trenches, terminate, and splice primary and secondary underground.
- Installs and maintains all types of pad-mounted, underground, and vault-mounted equipment.
- Observes and assists other line workers.
- Patrols utility facilities and prepares proper records of findings.
- Sectionalizes and switches both overhead and underground lines according to proper operational procedures.
- Performs trouble shooting and all types of maintenance on both overhead and underground systems.
- Climb poles, structures, or ladders.
- Install and connect transformers.
- Install, Reconnect and/or transfer meters.
- Locate underground electric cable faults for repair.
- Operate diggers, bucket trucks, chain saws, and hand tools near/around electrical distribution lines.
- Operate live-line tools to connect and disconnect distribution lines and components.
- Performs duties following principles, practices, and equipment and construction methods established by the Cooperative.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and fulfill the responsibilities of a Crew Foreman during times needed.
- Commitment to safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies/procedures.
- Participate in on-call status as needed.
- Comply with Twin County Employee Handbook/Policy Manual and cooperative procedures.
- Attend and participate in the annual membership meeting and other employee related events.
- Participate in community events and outreach programs on behalf of the cooperative.
Interacts with members, general public, cooperative employees and department managers.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent

Experience
- 10 years experience in construction of electrical distribution facilities (preferred)

Job Training
- On-the job training for specific duties.
d.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Bucket Truck and Pole Top Rescue Certifications
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) without restrictions and insurable driving record
- CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred)

Work will be performed outside. Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, major power outages and after designated shift hours. Must be willing to travel to receive additional on the job training.
