Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

Location: Remote possible within the specified city, state, or region.
Travel: 100% of the time.
Shift: Variable.

Compensation: Hourly base pay $26.73 - $40.10. Eligible for commission and/or incentive programs.

Job Summary

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II performs licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance (PM) inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, diagnostics, and other duties in a mobile field environment. The role includes advanced diagnostics under supervision and continuous skill development to achieve high performance metrics.

Duties
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, braking, cooling, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair electrical, brake, cooling, HVAC, and mechanical components using test instruments, handheld computers, and pressure gauges.
  • Conduct road tests to verify repairs and diagnose further issues.
  • Manage parts inventory on the company‑issued service truck, perform periodic reconciliation, and procure parts from approved vendors.
  • Maintain the company‑issued service vehicle, perform safety checks, and conduct pre‑and post‑trip inspections.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
  • Prioritize tasks and allocate time efficiently while working independently.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks as required.
  • Document work on Repair Orders (RO) via the proprietary TRAIT application, including photographs, parts used, and findings.
  • Complete DOT forms and other required documentation promptly.
  • Operate in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED plus 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combinations).
  • Supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • Ase T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months of hire.
  • Successful completion of DOT‑regulated background screening and DOT physical, or a valid DOT medical card with >4 months remaining.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Valid driver’s license in the state of residence and ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.
  • 21+ years, safe driving record, and capacity to operate a vehicle independently.
