Director of Disability Support and Academic Support Center (Florham Campus)

Job Summary: The Director of Disability Support and Academic Support Center reports to the University Director. The Director has responsibility for coordinating accommodations and related services for students with disabilities, identifying, placing and remediating students with basic skills deficiencies, and providing tutorial and other academic services to all students. The incumbent is responsible for developing and overseeing the budget, supervising office staff and student personnel, and serving as a resource to the FDU community.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the University Director.

Professional Administrative. Grade: 29. FLSA:
Exempt. Salary: $76,000 to $86,000. Status:
Full-Time. Months Worked: 12 months. Benefits include tuition remission, health/dental/RX/vision insurance, paid time off, retirement plan, employer paid life insurance, long-term disability, and voluntary benefits such as supplemental life insurance, commuter benefits, long-term care, FSA/HSA.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Business Administration, Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Services, or related field preferred.
  • Five years of experience working with students with disabilities, with at least three years of supervision and budget management at the post-secondary level.
  • Minimum of two years experience in coordinating, scoring and interpreting placement tests at the post-secondary level preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Section 504 and ADA, including legal issues, higher education, and support services required.
  • Strong computer skills, research and statistical reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague, Image Now, and webpage content management software preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, staff and administrators.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of students’ information in accordance with FERPA regulations.
  • Availability to work non-standard hours including evenings and/or weekends.
  • Employment contingent upon a satisfactory background check; candidates must sign a waiver authorizing the background check and provide Social Security Card.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Monday–Friday 9 am to 5 pm (may need to work on weekends during university events).
