Position: Asst Professor of Practice, Data Science with expertise in AI
Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Practice, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

Drew University seeks applications for a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Practice in Data Science with expertise in Artificial Intelligence appointed in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science beginning August 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

The position's primary responsibilities include course development, student advising, and engaging in service activities for the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The successful candidate will teach and develop core courses that support the Department's undergraduate curriculum and contribute to the Master of Science in Data Science program, with the goal of incorporating more artificial intelligence across the different curricula. Key topics of interest include artificial intelligence, machine learning, applied data analysis, applied regression analysis, large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering and agentic AI, and responsible and trustworthy AI.

Required Qualifications:

* A master's degree in artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field is required.

* Expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and/or data science.

* Programming skills in Python and familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

* A Ph.D. degree in artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field by August 1, 2026, is preferred.

* Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or master's level

* Experience with generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and prompt engineering.

* Experience applying AI/ML solutions to real-world challenges in industry settings.

* Experience with cloud platforms for AI/ML deployment.

* Knowledge of responsible AI practices, AI ethics, and AI governance.
