Reading/Writing Specialist (Florham Campus)
Under the direction of the Director of the Academic Support Center, the Reading/Writing Specialist is responsible for curriculum planning and teaching developmental reading labs and study skills seminars; tutoring students who come for help in writing and for ESL support; communication with students' instructors concerning academic progress; counseling probationary students in study skills and time management; and administering and scoring placement tests.
Required Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in English or writing plus demonstrated success as a writing teacher and experience in reading instruction and reading development. Publications a plus.
2. Experience in basic skills instruction (reading, writing, study skills); experience in curriculum development and working with students with disabilities highly desirable. Such experience is preferable at the university level.
3. Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
4. Must be available to work evening hours as required.
5. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
Hours Worked - Monday
- Friday 9 am to 5 pm (may need to work on some weekends depending on university events)
