Job Summary:
The incumbent reports to the Campus Director (Metro or Florham) of Academic Advising. The primary responsibilities of this position are to engage in all student advisement services for undergraduates within an assigned academic vertical for the duration of students’ undergraduate career. Works closely with the faculty or other identified individuals (i.e., Chair, Associate Dean, Director) to maximize support of students in the assigned academic vertical.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Equivalent related experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of two years of experience in an academic environment preferred related to student advisement, records/registration, admissions, recruitment, or other higher education experience.
- Excellent human relations and oral and written communication skills, with a sensitivity to student needs.
- Computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, database software and web navigation. Proficiency in Canvas X16 graphic design program and/or Colleague system (i.e., University database system) a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Willing and able to work non-standard hours as required, including evenings and weekends.
- Valid driver’s license and accessibility to a car for occasional travel to either the Metro or Florham campus location if needed.
- Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check.
