Sellwood Studio of Performing Arts is seeking a part-time Guitar Teacher to join our wonderful, growing team.

We are a friendly, inclusive performing arts studio working with children and teenagers across a wide range of ages, abilities and musical interests.

Beyond private lessons, Sellwood Studio offers recitals and live performance opportunities, alongside a wider performing arts program that includes fully staged productions and advanced supplemental training.

• -Teach 1:1 guitar lessons from beginner through at least intermediate level
• -Establish strong foundations in technique, chords, rhythm, reading, tablature and musicianship
• -Teach a range of appropriate contemporary and traditional repertoire
• -Prepare students for recitals and other performance opportunities
• -Adapt teaching effectively to different ages, experience levels and musical interests

• -Degree in Music, Music Education, Performance or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
• -Minimum of 2 years of relevant teaching and performing experience
• -Ability to teach guitar confidently through at least intermediate level
• -Strong foundation in guitar technique and musicianship
• -Ability to read tablature and standard music notation
• -Strong people skills and ability to work effectively with children and teenagers
• -Reliable, communicative and invested in student development
• -Positive and enthusiastic teaching style
• -Ability to provide supplemental beginner piano instruction is a plus
• -Experience teaching group guitar lesson is a plus

This is a part-time 1099 independent contractor position paying $50 per teaching hour.

We are seeking afternoon and evening availability, with weekend availability also valuable.
