This is a sales and business-development position
. Success in this role requires more than responding to incoming customers. You will be expected to actively prospect, develop leads, create new sales opportunities, and build relationships that generate business.

The right candidate is comfortable taking initiative, working independently, and being accountable for measurable results. You should be someone who does not wait for opportunities to come to you—you know how to create them.

• Actively prospect for new customers and develop your own leads
• Make outbound calls and conduct consistent follow-up with prospects
• Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within the local community
• Schedule and conduct appointments with prospective and existing customers
• Develop relationships that lead to new business and referrals
• Identify customer needs and discuss appropriate auto, home, life, and other available insurance products
• Cross-sell and identify additional opportunities with existing customers
• Maintain an organized sales pipeline and consistently follow up on open opportunities
• Work toward established weekly and monthly sales and marketing goals
• Participate in agency marketing and community-development activities
• Take ownership of your individual results and professional development

You should have a strong independent work ethic and the ability to manage your day without requiring constant supervision. You understand that prospecting, follow-up, and consistent activity are fundamental parts of a successful sales career.

• Previous sales experience strongly preferred, including insurance, outside sales, inside sales, retail sales, business development, or telephone sales
• Demonstrated experience prospecting or developing leads is highly valued
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Self-motivated with a strong independent work ethic
• Comfortable making outbound calls and initiating conversations with prospective customers
• Ability to set goals and consistently work toward them
• Organized and disciplined with follow-up
• Proactive problem-solving skills
• Willingness to learn and be coached
• Spanish-speaking or bilingual candidates are a plus
• Property & Casualty insurance license required or as determined for the position
• Life insurance license required or willingness to obtain it within the established timeframe
