General Accountability

This position will perform a variety of tasks related to the assembly of heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.

Shift

1st Shift – Monday‑Friday 5:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe work environment
    • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures; perform tasks in a safe manner.
    • In the event of an accident or injury immediately notify the Shift Lead or Supervisor on duty.
    • Operate, maintain, and use personal protective equipment and other safety supplies and equipment.
    • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company policies relating to safety, housekeeping, and Hazardous Waste Management programs.
  • Work without close supervision
  • Contact the Maintenance Department to get equipment repaired when necessary
  • Ability and willingness to take on additional assignments as requested by management
  • Check results for conformance to print and/or specifications and make necessary corrections
  • Work with coworkers in a polite and courteous manner, providing cross training as needed
  • Able to work overtime as required
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely and independently or as a team
  • Must be able to stand on concrete for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to stand, climb, crawl, bend and utilize multiple tools including but not limited to power tools
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Expectations for Advancement
  • Level I
    • Must meet and exceed the above duties and responsibilities
    • Able to work independently in a work cell
    • Consistently uses and refers to Work Instructions to ensure high quality
    • Able to use power tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments
    • Keeps the work area clean and orderly
    • Communicates effectively with CMT and Supervisor
    • Properly scans all parts into the operating system
  • Level II
    • All duties of Level I plus:
    • Cross‑trained in a minimum of 4 work cells or able to perform specialized functions unique to a small number of employees
    • Attendance has not exceeded “five (5)” points
    • Offers solutions to problems in the work area
  • Level III
    • All duties of Level I and II plus:
    • Cross‑trained in a minimum of 10 work cells or able to perform specialized functions unique to a small number of employees
    • Knowledge of operating systems
    • Ability to train new employees
    • Participates in problem‑solving activities with leadership teams
Experience
  • Preferred manufacturing experience
  • Must be a self‑starter, team player, and have the ability to multitask
  • Able and willing to work in other areas as needed; suggest and implement improvements, follow up on details, seek out productive work when assignments are completed, and actively participate in continuous improvement to better serve our customers and improve overall profitability
Education
  • High School or GED preferred
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base pay starts at $21.00 per hour plus a potential quarterly bonus based on performance metrics; actual pay determined by experience level, skills, qualifications & work location
  • This position is located onsite in Madison, South Dakota
  • Travel requirements – no travel required
