Position Overview

The Accountant is responsible for maintaining general ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This includes creating financial transactions and reports from that information. The Accountant will evaluate transactions for proper classification and make decisions regarding the posting of the transactions. The Accountant reconciles accounts to ensure their accuracy, assists with establishing policies and procedures for financial reporting, and helps maintain the company's Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) 404 compliance.

Duties
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures in compliance with applicable government regulations; including, but not limited to, SOX, GAAP, and International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation (IFRS).
  • Process cash receipts and record revenue and receivables; work closely with the revenue cycle team to ensure that revenues and receivables are reconciled at any given time.
  • Perform daily cash and bank reconciliation reports and record corresponding journal entries.
  • Perform general account analysis and reconciliations; including, but not limited to, bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
  • Ensure that general ledger accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist in financial statement preparation through account classifications and transactional coding.
  • Assemble information for external auditors for the annual audit.
  • Calculate and issue financial analysis of the financial statements.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
  • Engage in assignments for upper management to address long‑term planning and risk assessments, as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact, coordinate, and communicate effectively with internal staff and external vendors.

  • Support and comply with the company's Quality Management System policies and procedures.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work designated schedule.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or other field related to the essential duties of the position.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and bookkeeping.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Experience with SAP, One Stream and Databricks.
  • Life Sciences industry knowledge.
Salary

Salary Range: $76,000.00 - $. The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full‑time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible.
