Department Overview

Internera’s Accounting Department supports the financial operations of multiple small businesses. The department organizes financial records, prepares recurring reports, tracks income and expenses, assists with payroll and invoicing, and helps business owners better understand their financial performance.

Accounting team members work with real business financial information across multiple industries while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and consistent accounting processes.

Schedule

This position will be hybrid with most work able to be completed remotely. There will be occasional meetings where you will be required to come in-person to our home-base at The Rigby in downtown Madison. This position will be about 5-10 hours per week.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Comfortable working with numbers, financial information, and spreadsheets
  • Ability to organize information and meet recurring weekly and monthly deadlines
  • Ability to protect confidential business and financial information
  • Willingness to ask questions and investigate information that appears incomplete or incorrect
  • Interest in learning how accounting and financial reporting function within operating businesses
  • Ability to follow established procedures and accept feedback
  • Dependability and ability to work independently after receiving training
  • Previous bookkeeping, accounting, office, or administrative experience is helpful but not required
  • Experience with Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets is preferred but not required
  • Willingness and ability to learn new accounting software and financial systems
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles
  • Ability to enter, categorize, and review financial information
  • Understanding of financial reports, budgeting, payroll, invoicing, and reconciliations
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify discrepancies and missing information
  • Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Clear communication and professional judgment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to learn accounting software and systems
Position Summary/Job Duties
  • Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports
  • Match, review, and categorize transactions
  • Assist with bank and account reconciliations
  • Track bills, expenses, invoices, and payments
  • Assist with budgeting, payroll, and accounts receivable
  • Review records for missing or incorrect information
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records
  • Follow accounting procedures and meet deadlines
  • Help improve accounting processes and complete additional projects as assigned
