This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional looking to expand beyond traditional accounting responsibilities into a strategic finance role supporting commercial real estate development, acquisitions, construction, financing, and asset management. Position SummaryReporting to the Director of Operations, the Financial Accountant will oversee corporate accounting functions while supporting the financial management of multiple real estate development and investment entities.
This role offers broad exposure to:
- Corporate accounting
- Construction accounting
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Banking and lender relationships
- Investor reporting
- Cash management
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Maintain the general ledger and perform account reconciliations
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process payroll
- Assist with monthly and year‑end financial close activities
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
- Coordinate owner and investor distributions
- Prepare financial reports and present results to leadership
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Maintain accounting records for multiple development and investment entities
- Track project costs, construction draws, and development budgets
- Prepare and maintain project financial models
- Analyze project performance and support underwriting of new development opportunities
- Assist with debt financing, lender reporting, and covenant compliance
- Review loan documents and coordinate financing activities with lending partners
- Review financial statements prepared by third‑party property management firms
- Support project capitalization and transition from development to operations
- Prepare year‑end work papers for external auditors and tax professionals
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Three or more years of accounting experience
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience with commercial real estate, construction, or development accounting
- Experience using accounting software such as Quick Books, App Folio, Yardi, Sage, Entrada, or similar ERP/accounting platforms
- Experience preparing financial models and cash flow projections
