Position: LTE Payroll & Benefits Specialist (Madison) *Reannouncement*

Position Summary

Coordinates all payroll and benefits onboarding and offboarding tasks; including training, People Soft data entry, and file maintenance. Runs audit reports for the bi‑weekly payroll; advises and counsels employees on wages; ensures I‑9 compliance statewide.

Administer Payroll and Benefit Functions (55%)
  • Manage and ensure timely responses to all verification of employment requests.
  • Audit payroll reports, timesheets, paid leave accounting.
  • Counsel employees/supervisors on payroll policy/procedure.
  • Train employees on People Soft Employee Self Service functions.
  • Enter and reconcile general deductions.
Coordinate Onboarding/Offboarding Functions (45%)
  • Perform electronic file maintenance as required, including uploading documents to personnel files, maintaining folders, and tracking data in spreadsheets.
  • Manage I‑9 documentation compliance.
  • Coordinate new employee orientation attendance and program requirements.
Salary Information

This position pays between $20.00 and $24.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, and is in pay schedule and range 81‑05. Compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position and will not automatically lead to permanent state employment or be entitled to the same benefits as permanent employees.

Requirements
  • Residency:
    You must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin. A Wisconsin Resident is a person who has established a residence, as defined in s. 6.10(1), in this state not less than 10 days earlier; has resided in this state for not less than a total of one year out of the immediately preceding five years; is eligible to register to vote in this state;

    or is the spouse of a person meeting the requirements of par. (a), (b), or (c).

  • Experience providing customer service to internal and/or external stakeholders (e.g. answering questions, providing guidance, working through issues, etc.).
  • Experience working with confidential information.
