Job Profile:Financial Specialist I
Job Summary:Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Financial Specialist I or II will be part of the administration team within the Department of Oncology/McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research. The role will provide high customer service to faculty, staff, and students on a variety of departmental financial transactions. This position will review and submit requests with funding allocation, purchasing, accounts payable, and travel related items, maintain financial reports and records, and support the administrative team.
KeyJob Responsibilities:
- Audits or processes transactions and assigns funding codes in accordance with established rules, regulations, and policies
- Audits or reconciles original purchase documents with payments
- Serve as a back up to other Administrative Office personnel as needed
- Drafts basic communications and reports and maintains organization of varied records to provide administrative support within a specified work unit
- Answers general fiscal questions and provides information based on set materials and standards to various audiences
- Audits, monitors, organizes, and updates fiscal records, reports, and affiliated materials

The McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research is also designated as the Department of Oncology within the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health. Our administrative team actively supports departmental research and their pursuit of understanding cancer.
Compensation:The starting hourly wage for the position is $22.00 per hour; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:- At least one year experience in Accounting, Finance, or other related business area
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 particularly in Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Proficiency in data retrieval and generating reports
- Experience in process improvement
- Experience working in Workday or similar ERP systems on accounting, cost allocation, and payment processes
- Administrative experience/knowledge of the biological sciences field
