This position provides confidential administrative, professional and comprehensive program support work for the Office of the Secretary (OS) and the Division of Management Services (DMS), including confidential assistance to Office of the Secretary, DMS Division Administrator and other management for personnel recruitments, and other non-personnel related work assignments.
This position provides employee liaison services with Human Resources and Payroll, Finance, Information Technology, the Secretary's Office and other areas of the department. This employee works closely with the Office of the Secretary staff and DMS staff to accomplish its work; and is responsible for interpretation and execution of State, departmental and division rules and policies in carrying out their assigned functions.
The position operates under the general supervision of the DMS Division Administrator and requires a high degree of professionalism, accountability, confidentiality, efficiency, independence and accuracy. The incumbent is continually presented with long and short-term problems to be solved expeditiously. Daily, it is presented with a wide variety of issues that require independent judgment and research to make choices for action or recommendations for action.

Salary Information
The classification of this position is Office Management Specialist, which is in schedule-range 81-04 with a starting pay of $31.00 up to $36.00 per hour based on qualifications.
A 12-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan at the time of hire.

At DATCP, we strive to deliver efficient and effective programs and services to Wisconsin agriculture, consumers, and businesses. The Department has numerous on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, unique to each Bureau.
These OJT opportunities and transferrable skills include direct experience and practice through collaboration with co-workers/supervisor, peer mentoring, and job-specific training modules.
Conditions of Employment:
DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States.
A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment.
Qualifications
Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following:
* Experience working with Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Word, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
* Experience communicating with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. research and respond to inquiries and calls, coordinate and schedule meetings, etc.)
* Experience in performing a variety of office management duties (e.g. purchasing office supplies, reconciling invoices and purchasing cards, monitor workflow approvals, etc.)
In addition to the minimum qualifications above, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following:
* Experience in coordinating personnel functions (e.g. initiate recruitment process, coordinate and support hiring supervisors through recruitment process, coordinate/schedule onboarding and offboarding staff, coordinate completion of human resource paperwork, etc.)
* Experience in coordinating travel arrangements (e.g. planning and booking transportation and accommodations for staff, completing travel reimbursement requests, etc.)
