Comp: $14hr with significant increase upon contract conversion to FTE

Position Summary

The Business Planning Specialist will support the Business Planning team in funding day‑to‑day operations and capital projects. This role is responsible for assisting with project funding activities, purchase order (PO) creation, and invoice processing. The position is a backfill due to recent turnover and will work closely with existing team members to ensure timely and accurate financial transactions.

Department Overview

The Business Planning team is responsible for the funding and financial administration of both operational expenses and capital projects. The team currently consists of one Business Planning Specialist I (BPS I) and four Business Planning Specialist II (BPS II) professionals.

  • The BPS I role focuses on operational support, including purchase order creation, invoice processing, receiving, and vendor setup.
  • The BPS II roles focus on capital project funding, including project funding requests, purchase order creation, invoice processing, and project close‑out activities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support project funding activities, including funding requests and purchase order creation (approximately 80% of workload).
  • Receive, review, and process invoices accurately and in a timely manner (approximately 20% of workload).
  • Partner with Business Planning team members to facilitate purchases and ensure proper funding allocation.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to purchase orders, invoices, and project funding.
  • Support operational and capital project financial workflows in accordance with established processes and policies.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement within the Business Planning team.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong keyboarding and data entry skills.
  • Basic to intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial processing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented, onsite environment.
