Job Overview
Georgetown University is seeking a Contract Officer, Capital Procurement to draft, review and approve supplier contracts and master agreements, and guide stakeholders through the contract process, minimizing risk and liability in accordance with University policy and audit requirements. This role works with the Executive Director, Director of Strategic Sourcing, and Senior Contract Officer to align procurements with University strategic goals. Additionally, the role will train, supervise, and provide professional development to Contract Managers and Administrators.
Responsibilities- Draft, review, negotiate, and approve supplier contracts and master agreements.
- Guide stakeholders through the contract process.
- Ensure procurements are aligned with University strategic goals.
- Train, supervise, and develop Contract Managers and Administrators.
- Review contracts and related policies and processes.
- Conduct audits of contract compliance.
- Develop and deliver training materials.
- Collaborate with capital projects and construction teams.
The Contract Officer reports to the Executive Director and liaises directly with contract initiators within Georgetown’s capital projects portfolio. This position is designated Hybrid, requiring approximately two days on campus per week.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, business, or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in contract drafting, review, and negotiations.
- 4+ years of experience in contract review or business operations.
- Proven ability to identify root cause of problems and implement sustainable improvements.
- Experience supervising interns.
- Strong knowledge of procurement concepts and contract procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines across stakeholder teams.
- Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and virtual collaboration platforms (Zoom, Workday, Cognos, etc.).
- Strong attention to detail, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to train others.
- Master’s Degree.
- Experience in contract review for construction and capital projects, especially in a university setting.
- Data analytics skills (Tableau, Looker Studio, Python).
