Baker Tilly is seeking a Senior Manager to join our Global Trade & Customs practice in a newly created, high‑impact role focused on project oversight, client engagement, and resource optimization. This position will serve as a centralized leader across active engagements, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, consistently, and with the highest level of quality.
Key Responsibilities Project & Portfolio Oversight- Provide centralized oversight of all active Global Trade & Customs engagements, ensuring projects remain on track with scope, timeline, and budget.
- Establish and maintain project‑management standards, tools, and reporting frameworks across the practice.
- Monitor project milestones, dependencies, and deliverables; proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Drive consistency in delivery execution and promote best practices across engagement teams.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment and efficient execution.
- Manage consultant utilization across a growing and complex portfolio of work.
- Partner with leadership to align staffing with project needs, deadlines, and skillsets.
- Identify capacity constraints, resource gaps, and opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Develop actionable reporting on utilization, forecasting, and capacity planning.
- Serve as a key client‑facing contact supporting engagement teams.
- Assist clients in navigating customs portals, processes, and procedural requirements.
- Respond to client inquiries by coordinating with technical specialists and conducting targeted research.
- Help translate complex customs and trade requirements into clear, actionable guidance for clients.
- Support strong client relationships through proactive communication and high‑quality service delivery.
- Deliver clear, concise reporting to leadership on project status, risks, utilization, and performance metrics.
- Provide insights that enable data‑driven decision making and continuous improvement.
- Proactively surface risks, bottlenecks, and delivery challenges with recommended solutions.
- Support development of scalable processes, tools, and playbooks for the Global Trade practice.
- Work closely with Partners, Directors, and engagement teams to coordinate delivery efforts.
- Support onboarding, training, and development of team members on project‑management best practices.
- Foster collaboration across teams to enhance efficiency and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to the growth and operational maturity of the Global Trade & Customs practice.
- 4‑year degree.
- 8 years of professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in consulting, advisory, project management, or global trade‑related roles.
- Strong project‑management experience overseeing multiple concurrent engagements.
- Experience managing resources, utilization, and/or capacity planning.
- Demonstrated ability to work directly with clients and manage relationships effectively.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear guidance.
- Proficiency with project‑management tools and reporting frameworks.
- PMP Certification.
- LCB Certification.
- Exposure to customs compliance, import/export processes, or trade regulations.
- Experience working with government agencies such as U.S. Customs and Border Protection or similar.
- Background in professional services, consulting, or advisory environments.
- Experience building or improving operational processes in a growing practice.
The U.S. National pay range for this position is $179,850–$340,970. Actual compensation is influenced by a variety of relevant factors including but not limited to the applicant’s skills, prior experience, qualifications, degrees, professional certifications, work arrangements and geographic location.
