Job Overview

APTIM’s Energy Transition team is seeking a dynamic and personable Outreach Specialist in support of Wisconsin’s Focus on Energy program, which includes both utility energy‑efficiency and renewable‑energy programs as well as the IRA Home Energy Rebate programs. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a public‑facing environment, enjoys travel, and is passionate about energy, sustainability, and community engagement.

As a key member of the Stakeholder Engagement team, the Outreach Specialist will represent Focus on Energy at community events across Wisconsin, educating residents and businesses about energy‑saving programs and incentives and rebates. The position will also support and grow Focus on Energy’s expanding relationships and work with community‑based organizations to reach underserved customers in Wisconsin. Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the specialist will collaborate closely with marketing staff and program implementers to ensure outreach is consistent, accurate, and impactful.

Focus on Energy is Wisconsin’s statewide energy‑efficiency and renewable‑energy program, serving 107 utilities and supporting nearly 200,000 utility customers annually. APTIM has served as Program Administrator since 2011, helping deliver measurable energy savings and high‑quality customer support.

APTIM’s Energy Transition team is a recognized leader in the marketplace, delivering innovative projects and complex client solutions across energy management, carbon management, smart energy infrastructure, distributed energy resources (DER), and carbon‑free mobility solutions. Our consultants collaborate with clients to define and implement strategies and campaigns around key business drivers, focusing on high‑impact projects that exceed expectations.

Key Responsibilities /Accountabilities
  • Represent Focus on Energy at community and stakeholder events, educating the public about program offerings and rebate opportunities.
  • Deliver engaging presentations or talks to inform and inspire target audiences.
  • Coordinate with event organizers on all aspects of event logistics—including scheduling, setup, materials, registration, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Focus on Energy programs to support effective communication, inform content development, and respond to staff and stakeholder inquiries.
  • Build strong relationships with community‑based organizations, partners, stakeholders, and utility customers.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with community‑based organizations for pilots overseen by the Focus on Energy Administration team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to align outreach with program goals and marketing strategy.
  • Monitor and share common questions, interests, and concerns raised by the public to inform program messaging and improvements.
  • Support preparation of reports, updates, and outreach summaries.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with all APTIM quality and safety policies as well as all OSHA regulations.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 5+ years of event coordination and customer service experience.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and ability to travel regularly across the state.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint).
  • Willingness to learn new technologies across multiple industries.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining relationships with internal colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Self‑starter with the ability to manage time, work independently, and prioritize projects within established deadlines while handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • High level of emotional intelligence and ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
